Hi Guys,

After having some more testing at my Club Championship, the Zytec Shark Fin was GOOD but not as good as the Blitz R09, for some reason i find the Blitz body a much more stable body for the Motonica. I dont mind the Zytec but i feel its more forgiving at times and you have to really fight to keep it pointing in the right direction. Well since i love PINK, www.rc-mushroom.com have pre-painted body shells that look Awesome if your lazy like me. Here is another Body i painted, but the only part i painted was the PINK, the Green/Blue flames had already been done and makes the job rather easy to finish off.

Also another new change in the car was the NEW GRP tyres, keep in mind that you will need to change the rear end track width as you gain extra 3mm tyre width each end of the car, So wider tyres more grip faster times - HAPPI HAPPI

Recently in the last few months my times have gone from 18.4 per lap down to a PB of 17.4 - so things are working good and Holding onto 3rd in the Club Championship.

Zytec Shark Fin Body - PINK IT IS!

Hey Guys,

Back for a short time, still going strong in Club Championship with some close racing for the end of year final placings. In the mean-time painted another body, this time its the New Zytec Shark FIN, must say it was a nice body to drive with pretty stable and FAST! O'yeah its PINK again =)

Hey Guys,

Getting busy lately with RC hype here in Australia, coming up soon we have the State Titles in South Australia and its starting to build up to this event. Over the past few weeks i have been helping a new member the family of Motonica a good friend of mine Scott. His car is the Yellow painted body and i too have been busy with the new stealth look in Black.... I'll report back soon with more updates.

Hello Motonica FANS

I thought id post some new information on my blog, been a while since i got into some more tips etc etc... The biggest help i have had is from Driver Robin D'Hondt he has been so good in helpping me improve my car to achieve my personal best laptime of 18.5

The setup is great for on power steering for some weird reason running very hard front and rear swaybar and the new position of the Blitz R09 body 25mm forward measured from the centre of the bumper gave my car very good on power turn in, the only issue i had was sometimes car tend to push / understeer in tight corners.

Below is come photos of my new improved setup - yet to be tested but will post the setup sheet very soon....

Before i used WHITE mugen springs / Will try Silver Motnica if too much loss of grip i will go back to the White Mugen softer spring...

New Added Novarossi 2015 Exhaust Pipe - Also using a 6fin medium conical manifold

Removed the Carbon front top deck stiffners for possible more added steering in tight 180 degrees corner. I used some nice Titanium screws to fill the black holes.

Normally i run the front top arm cradle 2mm shims up front towards the car, this time ill test Robin D'Hondt's technique shims 2mm on the back so the cradle tilts downwards as shown in the diagram.

Top showing removal of the carbon top deck stiffners No.2 - this will rob you of steering. Also ackerman is still the same as previouse up front holes, but on the top deck, move the shaft back towards the car to add more steering.

Below on the bottom arms front, shim large single or 2 shims up front of the car, make sure also no binding is on lower arm pins, must be free movement at all times. Best way to check is remove shocks and test for equal movement on both arms.

Notice the Swaybar position 90 degrees upright, very hard setting worth a test, if too much understeer back the blade 45/65 degrees

It's WAR - Camo Paint Scheme with a Differance!

Hey Guys,

Today i attempted my very first airbrush body - i wasnt sure what to do as a design, so i thought why not go for a camo style with my usual Pink colours that i tend to use on a regular base!

The lines arnt so clean and sharp but its not bad from a distance and with a combination of 3-4 colours will look pretty good in the end!

Here is some pictures of the progress, still got the pearl silver to apply and white backing!

Hey Guys,

Finally the Motonica P81 got on the track for some engine and car testing. The first time to drive a 1/8th was NEW to me but being a previous 1/10th tourer racer, i found the car rather nice to drive with little track time. Todays test was more on engine test, as i had issues with top speed on the Novarossi Basic Engine N.21-7T after some chats with fellow racers we thought we try a few things out, the first was a new crank in the engine and the crank i used was my new JP 21 P7L Modified, this engine was only just recently purchased so i thought id take the Crank out and test it in the N.21-7T. The other change i also made was a new Novarossi 6 FIN Conical Medium manifold and WOW it made a big differance with both new parts in the engine.

It came alive up top and giving some more bottom end. The car itself had a few handling issues but todays test was getting the engine right. Have a look at the video and enjoy and i hope to have some more videos in the near future.

Step 1 - Buying the Kit

Motonica P81 represents the evolution of the P8.0 and gathers all the suggestments deriving from the experience in the competitions of these last years in the most exciting and performating category for radio-controlled auto models, the 1:8 on-road 4WD. All the solutions used in the P81 were expressly validated by our Tester Stefano Solaroli.
The need to have a product with a high performance in the “King Category” forced us to make for the P81 unseen adjustments which did not allow us to continue using ball suspension arms.
In dealing with this new project, Motonica never ignored the need to provide a simple product, that can be easily driven on all tracks.

Build Stage 1 - The Fun Begins

First Glance at the Motonica P81 and i am amazed in the quality of the product packaging, and the simple instruction described in the user manual. I have been following some tips from certain forums and websites and if you are new to Motonica like myself the best advice is to view these following websites: www.rctech.net/motonica & another great site is www.motonica-usa.com - I hope you all enjoy the information below and i shall update more photos in the up-coming days.

New 1600mah Custom Motonica Battery fits in nice an snug, little tip those left over empty Motonica bags cut the label and place under some shrink wrap and presto your very own touch towards the build.

The new battery pack showing the length of the wires, this may vary on position of the battery, in this build i had the exit point facing the rear of the car.

Finally the Motonica is ready for engine run-in and then track testing, stay tuned for more as i hope to have some video of our club racing soon...

New Futaba Digital & Brushless servo's arrived today, also notice the additional Mugen MTX side receiver protector - was a bit of thinking cap here as the KOPRO receiver really does stick out a fair bit causing the cover to expand outwards. The best tip i can give if using this sort of setup is, where the receiver is double sided taped, use a heat gun to bend the plastic toward the servo so that you can add more room for receiver and the wires. My little touch in the rear of the car, wasnt sure where to place the Novarossi sticker but i found a nice cool spot in the end! Also notice the NEW Mugen white rear springs 1.9mm

Underneath the body i have installed the body side stiffners, tip is take your time and apply some shoe glue to keep them in position.

Ok its Pink "Fluro" but since no one at my club runs the colour i have done the duty having ownership! "Looks out everyone its PINK BITZ"

First ever 8th scale body, kept it rather simple, but painting the cockpit was a bit of steady hand needed! I think i did a good job.

Tip is to paint the cockpit first as the rest of the body is done last.

The position of the body before we paint, the only bit i have done is drilled the body post holes and the rest will follow after its been painted!

Motonica P81 almost finished, just some electrics and body - then we test & tune!

New Titanium top deck screw kit installed throughout the car. Also two option parts on the upper deck - front carbon chassis stiffners.

Mugen MTX4-R receiver protector, only required 2 x additional holes and a light trim on the right side fits very snuggly.

Rear end of the car, with option sway bar and titanium screw kit fitted.

Engine head protectors, found via rc-mushroom - cool little feature for added protection!

Fresh set of ATS 35SH Kyosho rim rear wheels fitted.

New Mugen MRX 1.9mm WHITE spring set fitted as an option from the set standard springs provided. This is more of a test to see there performance amongst the original set.

Rear carbon under chassis stiffners - i do like the option parts allows for more testing on differant settings.

Thought I'd take a sneak peak of the Novarossi crank.

Few new Option parts for the Motonica, bought some White Mugen front & rear springs, also bought some alloy servo horns for the new servos yet to arrive.

New Novarossi Exhaust 2052 with Medium Manifold

Exhauts fitted, just keep note of the holder to adjust the height of exhaust

This section of the throttle can be tricky as it hits the fuel tank, with some adjustments it should look like this.

Xceed INS box - Fancy clear design loving it - make sure you position the intake not facing forward - but to the right hand side.

New Novarossi N21-7T - the engine is a entry level good start to get the feel of the car, then i shall move up to a more modified system.

New MUST upgrade part is the Ergo front bracket - this will support and major accidents that can damage where the exhaust mounts to.

Rear belt tension - requires the 3 bearing in place, the tension of the belt will vary on setup sheet.

Another great upgrade modification is the adjustable swaybar. When installation keep in mind that it must move freely and not bind on anything.

Originally the disc brake was rather rough from the package, i used a fine file and a debur tool to take any sharp edges off. This is a must before installation to prevent rapid wear of brake pads.

The bottom of the INS box showcasing the filter inside, make sure you lubricate the filter once in operation.

Motonica Shocks front & rear - take your time in building and do allow some lubrication when installing the o-rings. The rebound will differ from each driver, but 25% rebound is a good start. I have also installed the Motonica Shock oil which i believe is a rating of 45W.

Cool little added feature on the Motonica rear end is the smart design rear brake cover. This will limit debri damaging the pads and keep the temps up in the pads.

My favourite part of the Motonica is the lovely LOGO they give on the rear and front, just a nice little touch to identify there product.

Rear hub carrie pre-installed, also the spacers for the upper camber arms will vary on setup sheet.

This process was a tab fustrating but once you get it once, you can build the remanding with ease. The best tip i can give is do it with a rag to prevent the spring flying out unexpected, so if it does spring out it will be caught in the rag surroundings.

The rear end with the standard sway bar installed, keep in mind there is a nice tip on www.rctech.net in how to free up the binding issue. Very important if you are using this sway bar is to free from any binding issues.

The rear diff, fully locked with bearing on the end shafts. Good tip is to apply some bearing grease on the dog bones to eliminate wear and tear.

The first time i assembled the disc brake & pads i did notice a bit of binding, so i disassembled deburred and cleaned the disc & pads to allow a more freedom to move.

Here we show the disc brake pads, keep note to sand or file evenly to around 1.8 - 2.0 thickness as this will give better performance and limit binding. Also the two pins make sure you glue into the bulkhead and be sure they sit all the way down.
